  • The number of simultaneous Interlibrary Loan requests per patron will be reduced from 5 to 3 items.
June 7 - June 27
  • New Interlibrary Loan requests will be unavailable during this time.
  • Existing requests arriving at the library during this period will have a shorter than normal loan period.
June 28
  • The new Interlibrary Loan System will be active and new requests may be placed again.
  • The number of requests per patron will return to 5 items.
  • Items arriving on or after June 28 will have loan periods returning to their normal length.

Any changes to this schedule will be updated on this page.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during the transition period.

What is available via Interlibrary Loan?

Request books, videos, audiobooks, and more that are not owned by the Tom Green County Library. Before requesting materials, please check the catalog to see if Tom Green County has the material.

What materials cannot be loaned?

Most libraries will not lend books published within the last 12 months, microfilm, microfiche, reference books, rare books, and eBooks.

How long will it take for items to arrive?

Materials take usually around 2 weeks to arrive but can take as long as 4 weeks depending on the lending library.  You will be notified when your item is available for pickup. If there is a problem, we will notify you.

How do I submit a request?

Submit your request using the WorldCat database search box at the top of this page.

What will it cost?

There is generally no charge as the majority of libraries lend materials at no cost to you.

Where do I pick up the loan?

Pickup your requests at the branch location you requested your item be held at when completing your request.

How long can I keep the materials?

The lending library determines the loan period for their materials. Usually, materials can be borrowed for 3 weeks, although some lending libraries may provide for a longer loan period.  There are no renewals on these materials.

What if I am late returning materials?

Patrons are encouraged to return items by the due date and there are no fees if returned late. However, patrons are responsible for items declared lost or damaged upon return and as such are charged the amount the lending library deems necessary.

Where do I return the materials?

Return materials to any Tom Green County Library branch location.

How many simultaneous requests can I have?

Each library card holder is limited to requesting up to 5 titles at a time.
