|Title:||Moms & Daughters Who Code @ Stephens|
|Location:||Stephens Central Computer Lab - 2nd Floor|
Saturday afternoons in July:
Vishaka Brij will be teaching mom/daughter teams basic computer programming concepts, like loops, variables, conditionals, and functions that form the basis for all programming languages. By the end of July, each team will have created a website using the concepts learned.
Vishaka Brij has been working in the computer software industry for a few years. She holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and works in San Angelo with TimeClock Plus. She holds a Guinness world record for the Windows App Fest-Hackathon and is fluent in several programming languages. Vishaka is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others interested in computer science and has generously volunteered to lead a special summer edition of Girls Who Code: Moms and Daughters,
While the program is called Girls Who Code, boys are welcome to join, too. There are no age limits for this program, but both parent and child participants should have some basic computer skills—ability to use a mouse and keyboard and basic Internet skills. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied in the class by a parent or guardian. You must sign-up to participate on the library’s STEAM Central website, http://tgclibrary.com/steamcentralreservations.asp, beginning June 1—space is limited to 12 teams. Teams will meet in the Stephens Central Library Computer Lab, 2nd floor, July 7, 14, 21, and 28 at 1 PM.
