LIBRARY SERVICES AND POLICIES

Who may use the Law Library?

The Law Library is available for use to the general public as well as legal professionals. However, access to computers and the Westlaw legal research system requires a Tom Green County Public Library Card.

You may view our Library Card Policy or Register Online for a Library Card prior to your visit.

 


Computer Assisted Research – Westlaw

The Library has several computer workstations available with Internet access that are free to use with your Tom Green County Public Library Card.

Westlaw is available with free access for conducting legal research on all library public Internet computers.  The library also provides access to the EBSCOHost Legal Collection.

 


Printing/Copying

Printers are available for use

  •  B&W: $0.05 per page  
  • Color: $0.25 per page 

Copying is available for use

  •  B&W: $0.15 per page  
  • Color: $0.35 per page
Scanning to a Google Drive account, to email, and to USB media
is available for free on the second floor.

  A public fax machine is located on the first floor, and available for use.

 


Faxing

Self-service public fax machine is located on the first floor of the Central Library.

Credit/debit/check card is required to use the machine.

Reference Services

Reference services are available at our Second Floor Information Desk. Even though personnel are not trained to conduct legal research on patrons' behalf, they are available to help you locate your desired materials.

 


Study Rooms

Study rooms are available for patrons requiring a quiet area to meet and/or study reference materials. Although the rooms are not soundproof, they do offer a quiet place away from the public areas. Study rooms can be reserved through our Second Floor Information Desk with your library card.

 


Law Library Holdings

For questions regarding our print collections, please contact the Second Floor Information Desk for a list of our current holdings. At this time, our law library print resources are not searchable via our online catalog.  Regarding legal print resources please contact the library's Second Floor Information Desk.
